MARKET DYNAMICS

Exo, the public transportation company in Quebec that manages RTM, the metropolitan transportation system serving Greater Montreal, has requested the assistance of SYSTRA Canada to help with the purchase of its rolling stock. This new contract has a six-year mandate for procurement.

For the delivery of the new Siemens ‘Charger’ locomotives bought by Exo for the use of its five rail lines serving the Montreal metropolitan area, SYSTRA Canada’s Rolling Stock Business Unit will offer technical assistance.

The entire project will be managed by SYSTRA Canada, including design review, production oversight, quality certification, testing, and equipment validation up until it is put into service. Initial plans call for ten locomotives, with the potential for more machinery.

Ontario and Alberta will receive millions in investments from Canadian National Railway Co. According to the Montreal-based firm, the investments would go toward network enhancements as well as technology, capacity, rolling stock, and company-wide decarbonization programmes. It will help the rail network in (Canada) run more smoothly in the face of unheard-of service interruptions.

In order to update 94 BiLevel commuter train cars for GO Transit, the regional public transportation provider for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) in Ontario, Canada, Alstom has signed a contract with Metrolinx.

For more than 20 years, Alstom has been taking care of the 1,000+ pieces of rolling stock equipment that make up the GO Transit fleet of coaches and locomotives.

Alstom is a chosen partner for modernization projects to increase the lifespan of rolling stock due to its extensive experience as a system integrator, manufacturer, and designer of rolling stock.
