Rail freight transport in Germany
The “Rail Transport Master Plan” was presented at the end of June 2020. An important part of this: the relevance of the “Rail Freight Master Plan” published in 2017 was confirmed, and the stakeholders agreed on further rapid implementation of the measures already adopted. We at ASTRAN think this is the right time to recapitulate the adopted measures and to see which ones are already being implemented. The aim of the Master Plan was to strengthen rail freight transport and make it more competitive. The following lines will focus on one thing in particular: where does German rail freight transport stand today, some three years after this goal was set?
